SOLAR TRAINING - MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, EAST AFRICA

Bright Light Solar provided a two week training course on Installing Solar Water Pumps to technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture & UNICEF, Djibouti (East Africa).

The first week of classroom based training covered:

• Basic electrical theory, the principals of photovoltaic's and applicable pumping technologies;
• Sizing & designing solar powered water pumping systems, along with cost estimation;
• Practical installation procedures & methods.

During the second week the students were taken to site and guided through the practical installation of a fully functional community size pumping system for a remote Children’s & Maternity Hospital. This included:

• Site layout for foundation construction;
• Mechanical installation;
• Electrical Installation;
• Testing;
• Commissioning;
• Post-installation evaluation
